The player was a go-to person for the Portuguese tactician during his time at Manchester United.

The Belgian midfielder, Marouane Fellaini, has opened up about his regular contact with Tottenham Hotspurs boss Jose Mourinho but also insisted that he is happy in China.

Fellaini became the first major signing for Manchester United in the post-Alex Ferguson era when he joined Old Trafford from Everton in 2013 and went on to play a very crucial role during Jose Mourinho's tenure at the club.

There was news surrounding Fellaini joining Spurs considering his good relationship with the Portuguese manager, and a swoop in January was doing rounds in the rumour mill.

However, the 31-year old midfielder expressed his delight for featuring in the Chinese Super League with his current club, Shandong Luneng.

"Jose is special for me," Fellaini told Sky. "We text each other, we call each other from time to time."

"He's taken over at Spurs and he's doing well. I wish him all the best. But I am good where I am now."

The 31-year old central midfielder has been an impressive signing for his new Chinese outfit Shandong Luneng after they finished fifth in the league table. Fellaini's performances have been lauded by critics and the Belgian midfielder is contracted with the club till December 2021 with an option of an additional year.

Amid all the rumours, the Spurs midfield is relatively pretty young and inexperienced barring some players so there is a possibility that the Portuguese tactician turns towards his favourite student.

Despite all the transfer rumours surrounding Tottenham, Jose Mourinho reportedly is working on a tight budget after chairman Daniel Levy's claims of not allowing him to spend big in winter with huge repayments left for the new stadium.

So it will be interesting to see whether Jose Mourinho turns towards the Belgian and how the 31-year old reacts to the situation.
