The South Korean attacker was instrumental in Spurs’ run towards the Champions League final last season.

After missing the first two gameweeks due to suspension, Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-min Son will now be available for selection back again. Manager Mauricio Pochettino too, has declared that the attacker is in ‘perfect condition’ to start his season.

Spurs host Newcastle United at the weekend and it would be a perfect return for Son as he aims to take his side to their maiden Premier League title this season.

The South Korean international was instrumental in Tottenham’s journey to the UEFA Champions League final last season and also helped them finish at a commendable third position in the domestic league. The Spurs have stood as genuine contenders for the title in recent years and look hungry to bag silverware this season, having already made few super signings.

The way the Londoners performed against Manchester City last weekend, they have proven to be one of the toughest opponents in the league and Son’s return will turn out to be a huge boost for them.

“We are happy (that) in the last few weeks he was unbelievable in the way he was available to train and compete in every single training session and I hope it’s going to help the team now,” Pochettino said.

“I think it was a good opportunity for him to build his fitness and have a proper pre-season, which sometimes when you’re involved in competition is difficult.”

The Argentine was in fact impressed with the extra work put in by Son while he served his suspension. “I think he was training really, really hard to keep fit and improve in different areas.”

Many pundits have tipped Tottenham to be genuine contenders for the Premier League title besides Manchester City and Liverpool, but Pochettino insists it is too early to judge. “It is only the beginning, the Premier League is so tough and is so difficult,” he added, while keeping focus on his side’s next fixture against the Magpies.
