Manchester City next face Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the quarterfinal of the Champions League.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes that his side has already pulled off a miracle by staying in the hunt for four trophies even at this stage of the season. Manchester City progressed to the finals of FA Cup after narrowing out Brighton Hove and Albion courtesy of an early Gabriel Jesus goal.

Manchester City now awaits the result of the second semi-final - to be played between Wolverhampton Wolves and Watford - to know who their opponents will be for the showdown event.

The Citizens, being one of the most consistent teams of Europe, have been already crowned as the Carabao Cup champions, and are on course to win the Premier League for the second season running, should they win all their remaining fixtures which include a trip to eternal-rivals Manchester United's Theatre of Dreams and a game against Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.

In the competition that has eluded the Sky Blues the most - the most coveted of the four, the UEFA Champions League - they play Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals.

"It is always almost impossible to win the quadruple," said Guardiola. "To still be surviving at this stage in all competitions is already a miracle, and it's nice to be there.

"Normally when you achieve 100 points [last season], no one can repeat that, and the year after you have a tendency to be a bit more arrogant or presumptuous. But still we are there, it's incredible what these players have done so far."

Brighton showed great fight to the defending Premier League champions and stood tall after the fourth-minute goal from the Brazilian forward. Guardiola praised the valour of Brighton.

"It was tough because they defended incredibly well and they were well organised," continued Guardiola.

"After that, it was tough for many reasons but I'm happy to be in the final and still in all the competitions."

Guardiola refrained to talk about the controversial Kyle Walker incident. Kyle Walker pushed his forehead into the face of Brighton midfielder Alireza Jahanbakhsh. The full-back was booked by the referee but the Seagulls asked for more from the referee.

VAR, however, denied the possibility of a sending off and the English full-back was subbed out soon from the game by the former Blaugrana head-coach.

"I didn't see it," said Guardiola of the incident. "But he had problems in his back and hamstring and he couldn't run."
