The Italian also confirmed he is set to ring in the changes in today's game...
Chennaiyin FC head coach Marco Materazzi is set to make a few important changes to his team when the Super Machans play FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Sunday evening. Chennaiyin last played on Thursday against NorthEast United FC at Guwahati, and to ensure his players don't pick up unnecessary injuries because of the little recovery time they have at their disposal, the Italian has decided to rest a few crucial names. “We know it's a difficult league. We knew from the start that there can be nine days of recovery, or six or even three. I will definitely be making a few changes for tomorrow. I strongly believe that the worst mistake is to make the same players play [all the time]. It is true that these changes will change the formation but, you see, if the same players play there are lots of injuries and we would want to avoid that,” Materazzi told reporters on Saturday. Materazzi also paid tribute to his counterpart from FC Pune City, Antonio Habas, who is returning from a four-match suspension carrying over from last season when he was in charge of Atlético de Kolkata, who lost to Materazzi's men in the semi-finals. “Yes, I know Habas and his players. He is very good and he has proven it in the past two years. He is also very good in cheering his team but we will be calm and focussed because we know we are facing the favourite team [because they are playing at home] and we will stick to our game,” the he said. World Cup-winner with Italy in 2006, 43-year-old Materazzi also looked impressed by Pune City's squad this season. “That's the thing about Pune, they are the favourite team of the ISL. Every time I asked for a player, Pune already had him, so they have a good coach and a good set of players. But we will keep doing our job and we look forward to a good game tomorrow,” he said.
