The Italian national team manager has already started planning for the Euros next year.

Roberto Mancini weighed in on the recent situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy and also about the future of Italy and the Azzurri. The veteran coach spoke to La Gazzetta Dello Sport in an interview and mentioned his plans on preparing for and winning the continental showpiece next year as well as the current crisis surrounding Serie A.

Talking about the season, Mancini said "As far as the Serie a is concerned, I think that it will continue and we will go back to normal. I believe that the players will be eager to go back on the pitch. Juventus are still the favourite to win it, but Lazio and Inter are still in the race too. It will be a whole different story, so it is impossible to make predictions on what will happen."

Roberto Mancini led the Italian National team to the Euros which somewhat soothed the ignominy of failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the former Lazio, Fiorentina and Manchester City manager spoke about his plans for the event that has been postponed to 2021 following the situation of coronavirus in Italy and across Europe.

"I had already started planning for the Euros, I was hit by disappointment at first, then I stopped.  Probably we will be a bit rust in September, however, we will start again. However, I'm expecting a great tournament next year, at a very high level. We will try to win a major tournament. I look forward to listening to the national anthem, it will be an amazing feeling," said Roberto Mancini.

A video of people singing in their houses in Italy amid the growing pandemic was circulated and became viral on social media and Mancini considered it as evidence of solidarity among the people of the nation in such tragic times. Mancini replied, "People singing from the balconies it's the authentic side of Italy, they represent all of us. We always give our best during difficult times. The people deserved the Euros, as a way to bounce back."
