The Spaniard said he was proud of his team's performance after defeat to East Bengal...

Following the unexpected defeat at the hands of Kolkata giants East Bengal, Albert Roca revealed that it was Robin Singh who single-handedly won the Kolkata club their game against reigning champions Bengaluru FC. The East Bengal striker was a second half substitute who scored the winning goal for the Kolkata-based club.

“Robin, he was there and he took advantage of our bad moments,” said Roca in the post-match press conference in Kolkata. However, he also admitted that Singh is a player with unimaginable potential and a true professional in every sense. The Bengaluru Head Coach also congratulated the former BFC striker for his winning goal against his former club. “Congratulations to him, he has scored a goal for East Bengal,” he added.

The former Barcelona and Galatasaray assistant coach was asked for his feelings towards Bengaluru’s defense against East Bengal when he said, “Our intentions were always to push on them. But with tight situations like these, it is common to take advantage of that.” “It’s now time for us to see how to resolve that,” he further added.

The Bengaluru Head Coach revealed that he was proud of his team’s performance. “I always tell you I am proud of all my team’s performance,” said Roca. “They had a good attitude always. They managed the game quite well,” he further added.

However, the 54-years-old was open to his team’s criticism after their defeat against East Bengal, “In a certain moment of the game, they took advantage of our mistakes but that is football you know?” Roca said.

Regardless of the result, the newly appointed Spaniard revealed that he wants to concentrate on his team’s next fixtures. “Today was a bad day for us. But in the future we expect to win the games,” the former Saudi Arabia assistant coach said. “We have to keep working,” he further added.

India’s leading international goalscorer and a proven striker in the I-League, Sunil Chhetri was seen playing in the midfield for BFC. When asked about Chhetri’s position Roca answered, “He played on the left, not as a midfielder but as a winger. It also needs a good quality to play there. He played there in the AFC Cup and he was scoring goals there,” he concluded.
