The transfer activities of the Saudi Pro League have been linked with inflating transfer fees and wage bills.

The Saudi Pro League was as good as a nonentity in the football world, very few people had heard of them, and they rarely ever made footballing headlines, if at all. However, in the last two transfer windows, they have become one of football's biggest attention grabbers, they have managed to make their presence known in every top European league.

The intention of the Saudi Pro League seems clear. – Spend big money to bring the biggest names in world football to the Gulf state. Earlier in football history, many countries tried to make this kind of exodus happen, they saw some success initially and then failed.

However, the Saudi Pro League started with a bang. They brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps the biggest name in world football. Since then, many big names have migrated to the Gulf state, including Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, and most recently Neymar.

Since then, many European clubs and Leagues have raised concerns about the Gulf League eating away at their talents by showing them lucrative contracts and by offering teams undeniably large transfer fees.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has recently come out and commented on the Saudi Exodus, saying that it is starting to feel like a “threat” to the European system. His comments come after Liverpool have been repeatedly offered a deal of around €150m for their talisman Mohamed Salah.

Although Klopp has reiterated that he is not for sale. The massive paycheck he will be receiving in the Gulf state has raised speculation that the Egyptian might not dismiss the move
