Shillong Lajong To Begin New Edition Grassroots Festival
Selected players will be recruited to the Shillong Lajong FC Academy...
Shillong Lajong announced the start of the brand new edition of the “Lajong Grassroots Clinics” from 29th December onwards across various localities in and around Shillong under the watchful eyes of Youth Coaches namely, Alison Kharsyntiew and Seibor Sana. The Lajong technical staff will also be present in all venues during the festival with the aim to scout promising young talent.
In the previous edition of the grassroots clinics the club reached over a 1000 children which was conducted across many localities of the city and small towns in the state of Meghalaya. In this new edition the Club’s intention remains the same that is to provide every child with an opportunity to learn and develop skills through organized football activities, matches, and coaching.
Children between the ages of 6-10 years can participate in the clinics and get the chance to learn new skills, use the ball-based technical drills and play small-sided games. The Lajong coaching staff will ensure that each child is thoroughly engaged in the game session while they also assess their football skills and scout for young talents.
Shillong Lajong looks forward to create an environment where the youngsters learn new skills while having a good time at the clinics. The grassroots program will help children develop focus, positivity, control, teamwork, self-esteem, and social integration.
Head of Youth Academy, Mr. Gumpe Rime said, “This is a continuation of the initiative which we took last year. It was great to see the response we received last time. This year we will visit the places that we were not able to cover last year and our aim is it reach out to as many young children as possible and it will be a continuous process.”
Children who are interested to take part in the clinic can contact their local headman or Sports Club.
