Some of the top footballers in the world are sponsored by the German sportswear brand

The legendary three stripes have been synonymous with football for more than half a century now. The Germany based organization boasts of previously sponsoring the likes of Gerd Muller, Oliver Kahn, Philipp Lahm, David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Zinedine Zidane, Franz Beckenbauer and Iker Casillas among other great players to ever play the beautiful game.

The horizon of Adidas isn’t just restricted to soccer, athletes like Rohit Sharma, James Harden, Damian Lillard, Sania Mirza and Chris Gayle have flourished in their respective sports with their allegiance. Although the late Kobe Bryant and Kaka were the people who got away from Adidas in their careers.

Here, let’s take a look at the top five footballers who are sponsored by Adidas!

Toni Kroos

The German midfielder has been a one loyal customer to Adidas. Although his loyalty has been to a particular make of a boot which forced the manufacturer to relaunch that array of design. Toni has been wearing the same make of boots since he left Bayern – adidas Adipure 11pro 2013-2014.

It has been reported that Adidas had ceased the production of those models but the Real Madrid midfielder convinced them to make special editions, especially for him. The boots are made of Taurus Leather and are one of the heritage segment of Adidas.

Paulo Dybala

The Argentine was with Nike during his at Palermo but now is one of the leading projects at Adidas. It was just before the FIFA World Cup 2018 when Adidas brought him on board and since then, he has been scoring and assisting goals for fun while wearing the Copa Sense+ soccer cleats.

The Copa are a revolution as they became the first-ever leather football boot to use no laces by Adidas and it completed the brand’s quadruple lineup of laceless boots with the Predator, X and Nemeziz already being laceless.

Paul Pogba

The Predator series has been designed for control and is currently used by the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc-André ter Stegen. Paul Pogba uses the Pogba Season 7 Predator 20+ soccer cleats as he gets his own signature edition boot in association with Adidas.

Pogba have had the history of switching between various boots from Nike and Adidas but it was only till 2016 that when he returned to Manchester United, also made a switch to Adidas as spearheaded the launch of laceless Ace 16+ Purecontrol boots.

Mohamed Salah

Three Premier League goal scorers in Heung-min Son, Gareth Bale and Mohamed Salah trust the Adidas X Ghosted series and it is safe to say that they are worth it, you know, performance-wise! Built with the synthetic cover and designed for speed, the Egyptian King wears Adidas X Ghosted.1 soccer cleats. Unlike Paul Pogba, Salah opts not to wear elite level laceless boots.

Mo Salah is the flag bearer for the German outfit in their pursuit of tapping the market in Africa as his fellow superstars like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane represent Nike and New Balance in the continent.

Lionel Messi

The rival to Nike’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi is one of the two players along with Paul Pogba who receive personalized boots from Adidas. Although at the inception of Messi’s career, he did wear Nike but it was mostly down upon Nike’s sponsorship with FC Barcelona for their youth teams.

The Argentine wears Nemeziz 19.1 soccer cleats which are built for agility and players like Serge Gnabry and Isco also trust this line of boots from Adidas. The Nemeziz 19.1 uses a sports taping-inspired 360° Bandage System upper that stretches along with the movement of the foot and allows it to be agile because of its tension tape-like fit.
