These individuals play important roles in their respective teams and are some of the best players in the competition.

The Premier League is a gathering of the biggest football stars in the world. The financial might of the clubs allow them to sign the cream of the crop from across the globe. Furthermore, English clubs also have exceptional academies which churn out promising players on a regular basis. As a result, the league has a plethora of world class talent playing for their respective teams.

The quality of the players attracts a lot of worldwide attention, especially the attacking players. Point in case are the attacking wingers, who have become instrumental in modern football. Most teams employ attack-minded wing-forwards who threaten the opposition with their pace and technical brilliance. These players stretch the opposition defence, provide width and are usually exceptional dribblers. Containing wingers is hard and yet fundamental for any defence to keep a clean sheet.

Expectedly, the Premier League has some of the best wingers in the world. They bring exceptional value to the squad and often lead the scoring charts in the competition. Here are the top five wingers who are part of the Premier League.

5. Heung-min Son

Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-min Son is one of the best Asian players at the moment. He is by far the most threatening Asian player in the Premier League as well. The winger is a lethal finisher who has established a great partnership with England international Harry Kane. Son won the Asian International Player of the Year award in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 respectively.

The South Korean skipper has scored 73 goals and made 44 assists in 203 appearances in the Premier League. He recently signed a new contract with the London-based club. His pace and finishing make him one of the trickiest players to deal with.

4. Sadio Mane

The Senegalese international has been instrumental to Liverpool’s recent success. Sadio Mane came to Liverpool from Southampton after impressive performances for the latter in the league. He has helped the team win the UEFA Champions League (2018/19) and the Premier League (2019/20).

The 29-year-old also received the African Footballers of the Year in 2019 for his exceptional performances. Mane has played 236 games in the Premier League, registering 99 goals and 43 assists. He remains an indispensable part in the Reds’ squad and often gets linked with a move to clubs like Real Madrid.

3. Marcus Rashford

Manchester United’s academy graduate Marcus Rashford is one of the most talented players in the Red Devils' squad. The Englishman came through the ranks and made his senior debut for the club in 2015 as a teenager. At the age of 23, he has already played 179 games in the Premier League, scoring 55 goals and providing 37 assists. He has won four trophies with Manchester United, including the UEFA Europa League.

Rashford has a long career ahead of him and more potential to fill. He has electric pace and exceptional skills on the ball in his locker. He can shoot from distance and also take on defenders with his dribbling skills. The England international can play as a center-forward too but usually prefers to play on the left-flank as a wing-forward.

2. Jack Grealish

Grealish recently joined Manchester City in a record-breaking deal. The reigning Premier League champions paid £100m to sign him from Aston Villa. The transfer fee was a record highest fee paid for a British player and also a club record transfer for the Cityzens. Grealish plays from the left-flank and often drifts into other areas of the pitch with his dribbling ability. He is a tricky operator who is adept at drawing fouls from the opposition.

Furthermore, the 26-year-old had played 213 games for Aston Villa, scoring 32 goals and registering 43 assists. Grealish already has two goals and two assists for Man City in his first 10 games. He is a constant threat from the flanks and will play a crucial role in forthcoming matches for the club.

1. Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian is one of the best players in the world in current form. He has been the torch-bearer for Liverpool in the last few years. Salah has helped the club win the Premier League and the Champions League and led by example all this while. He recently became the fifth fastest player to score 100 goals in the Premier League, achieving the feat in 162 games.

Salah has nine goals and three assists in merely nine games in the ongoing 2021/22 season. Moreover, Salah holds the record for scoring most goals in a single Premier League season. He scored 32 goals during the 2017/18 season of the competition. The numbers suggest his brilliance and his performances justify why he is one of the best players in the world. The winger has won the Premier League golden boot on two occasions as well in 2017/18 (32 goals) and 2018/19 (22 goals).
