UCL 2019: Liverpool travelling fans issued safety warning in Naples
Fans of the defending champions have been warned not to wear red and remain cautious in Naples.
Liverpool fans travelling to Naples for their UEFA Champions League opener against Napoli were left scratching their heads after being requested not to wear the iconic red jersey and utilize the public transport on offer in Naples.
The club issued a safety list where they have advised their travelling party to refrain from wearing red to avoid running the risk of being targeted for robbery and assault.
Naples has a troubled history of crime with cases of foreigners and tourists being attacked and ripped off their means by local ruffians. Hence the caution from the club to their fans to remain vigilant and enjoy the game on offer.
The news comes on the back of Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti praising the city for its beauty, fun and frolic, the crime notwithstanding posting, "Napoli is a beautiful city. In every city, there are also some stupids, of course, in Naples too. People can come here, enjoy the city, the sea, the food, and also the people, that is wonderful too."

The Reds are buoyed by their 100% start to the season and look to continue the good start with a win against the Gli Azzurri to begin their Champions League title defence on a strong note.
