Five players with Champions League goals against most teams
The two obvious names top the list.
Since the Champions League's inception in 1955, the prestigious league has hosted many clubs, and we have seen multiple clubs win the coveted trophy numerous times. And those who navigated their clubs to Champions League glory are perceived as the greatest players of all time. And we have two world-class players with 100 goals in their careers.
Yes, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the only two players to have earned a century of goals in the Champions League, though others are close behind.
However, scoring against different teams is one of the special moments in football, and only a couple of players have scored against most teams in the Champions League.
In this article, we have collected the top-five players who have registered goals against most different clubs in Champions League.
Robert Lewandowski - 31 teams
Robert Lewandowski may be fifth on this list, but he is the third top-scorer in the Champions League, trailing only Messi and Ronaldo. Because of his magnificent striking expertise in matches, the player has had a meteoric upsurge in Europe. The Polish player has a wealth of experience and devastating game awareness as a striker.
Lewandowski is ranked fifth on our list of Champions League scorers who have scored against 31 different clubs. The former Dortmund striker joined Barcelona this summer and has had little time to settle in. The player has nine goals in seven La Liga cameos.
Raul - 33 teams
The former Real Madrid talisman was a predator in the box, waiting for any mistake and punishing with his eye for goal. Raul set such a high standard in the Champions League that only a few players could break his record.
The legendary striker possessed superior technical abilities, and his sophisticated positional play in the box distinguishes him from other strikers. Raul was the first player in this tournament to break the 30-goal barrier against most teams, but he managed to score against 33 teams.
Karim Benzema - 34 teams
Benzema has been making headlines since last season, and the underrated Frenchman is the contender to win the Ballon d'Or this season. Benzema has scored myriad important goals in his career since Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale left the club.
He is the most recent addition to this list. Many pundits believe he is just a striker who sits in the box, but the 34-year-old has evolved into a well-rounded forward and facilitator. Benzema is the fourth highest-scoring player in Champions League history and ranks third in the list of goals scored against most different teams.
Cristiano Ronaldo - 38 teams
Ronaldo is known as Mr. Champions League because he is the competition's all-time leading goal-scorer and has won a record five Champions League trophies in his career. The Portuguese icon has assembled goals against 38 different teams in the competition. Ronaldo boosts a solid pedigree with his ability to do anything on the field, and what separates him from other players is his competitive spirit.
Despite his age, the player has shifted to a centre-forward position and has returned to his former club, Manchester United. Regardless of the fact that he is playing in the Europa League this season, he is still the greatest Champions League player.
Lionel Messi - 40 teams
Lionel Messi recently became the only player in competition history to score against most clubs. He now has struck goals against 39 clubs, one ahead of Ronaldo. Messi has lifted four Champions League titles with Barcelona and is the Championship's second top player.
However, the player is no longer a Barcelona player. He has promised to spur PSG to their first-ever Champions League title alongside notable players Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
