The Italian was in bullish mood ahead of a game against league leaders NorthEast United FC…
Marco Materazzi was all praise for Nelo Vingada, his counterpart at NorthEast United FC ahead of a potential high voltage encounter between the two teams today at Guwahati in the Indian Super League. ‘’I always respect the leader. NorthEast United is the leader at this point of time. Coach Nelo Vingada has done a great job recruiting players and organized them. It’s going to be a tough game and if we play good, we can win,” he said. On his team’s performance so far, he seems not satisfied with the final results, which placed the Machans in 6th position in the league table with 4 points. They have played three games so far, winning, losing and drawing one each. “We should have got full points in the games played so far, I was just angry regarding the game against Delhi, we did not play that game the way we know how to”, he commented. On the uneven schedule of the ISL he had no complaints. “This is the schedule; it’s no body’s fault. We had lots of gaps until now and after this game we have to play in short intervals,” he said. In response to a query regarding the surprise dropping of Jeje Lalpekhlua from the starting XI in the last game, the aggressive coach had his own view of selection criteria. “Jeje has a key role in our strategy. I select my team irrespective of any nationality, age or experience. In the last game we finished it with seven Indians, I strongly believe in the quality of Jeje or any other Indian player like Jerry Lalrinzuala. I think I put my best squad in to the match,” he concluded.Report by Himangshu Rajkhowa- Khel Now Correspondent from Guwahati.
