We want to become successful by developing our own stars - Dave Rogers
DSK's newly appointed Head Coach talks about the philosophy of his club as they prepare for the visit of East Bengal...
DSK Shivajians began life under Dave Rogers in the I-League with a disappointing defeat at the hands of Mumbai FC. While the performance was certainly encouraging, the 1-0 loss will definitely have upset the management and they shall look to overturn the result in their first home game of the season against East Bengal. DSK begin a run of four home league games in a row on Saturday.
Speaking on the quality of the league and the their opponents, Dave Rogers mentioned, "It's exciting. There are no easy games in this league. We're playing against one of the most recognisable and successful teams in the country. We're prepared and ready to take them head on. We're the new club and they're the giants of Indian football but we're working hard and trying to build the club."
Rogers, who was appointed Head Coach of DSK Shivajians after an underwhelming first campaign under Derrick Perreira, reiterated that the club's main objective was progress, something that has been emphasized throughout the club heirarchy.
"We don't set targets. Our football club only wants progress. We take one game at a time. We'll reassess at the end of the season. We want to win football games the right way. We are building the club with focus on grassroots and the foundation. That's what we are all about. Success doesn't come overnight. We want to become successful by developing our own stars. We're trying to stabilise this club."
