The first full week of the summer transfer window was a crazy one and Khel Now takes a look at everything that went down in this maniac week in the market...

The month of July is when the big clubs come to play in the summer transfer window and with pre-season now looming before the kick-start of the new footballing campaign, many clubs are trying to complete the signings of their targets and get them some training before the real season kicks off. The world of football was taken by storm in the first week of the summer transfer window as some blockbuster deals went through and we take a look at all the major deals which were completed in the past week.

The big news came from England where Manchester United made the sensational swoop for striker Romelu Lukaku right from under the nose of rivals Chelsea. The Blues were confident of signing the frontman to replace the unwanted Diego Costa next season, but the Red Devils (who grew tired of being played by Real Madrid in their chase for Alvaro Morata) put in a mega bid of around £75m plus add-ons for getting the striker to the Theatre of Dreams.

But it didn't stop there as United's captain Wayne Rooney also completed a stunning return to former club Everton in a free transfer and Rooney's deal played a big part in getting the Belgian to Old Trafford. Chelsea fought back and finally announced the signing of German defender Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma for €29 million to further strengthen their backline. Former Premier League champions Leicester City also made an impressive signing by bringing in Vincent Iborra from Sevilla for a reported fee of £10.5m. Stoke City midfielder Jonathan Walters left the club after seven years as he was signed by Burnley for around £3m to strengthen their attack.

European champions Real Madrid also completed the signing of Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of €24m. Madrid also sent defender Fabio Coentrao out on loan to Portuguese club Sporting for the season, while former man Pepe also joined Besiktas. Valencia also made an impressive signing by bringing Juventus goalkeeper Neto to the club for an undisclosed fee while Barcelona also sold defender Jeremy Mathieu to Sporting.

The Italians also sold three players this week, including promising attacker Juraj Kucka. Inter Milan also continued their transfer business by signing young defender Milan Skriniar for an undisclosed fee.

The Bundesliga clubs are yet to start their transfer business as there were only a few relevant deals going through in between the clubs, with RB Leipzig signing PSG forward Jean-Kevin Augustin for a fee of around €13m. PSG themselves made a defensive signing by bringing in defender Yuri from Real Sociedad for an undisclosed fee as well.
