Many Manchester United fans were surprised to see full-back Diogo Dalot named as captain for the pre-season friendly against Premier League rivals Leeds United.
Let’s take a look at the reason for this.
With club captain Bruno Fernandes named on the bench, vetranTom Heaton also on the bench, and Maguire missing the match completely, Carrick needed to name a new captain. So Dalot was handed the captain’s armband.
A report by Laurie Whitwell earlier this month suggested that Diogo Dalot has been named Manchester United’s new vice-captain.
