Two relegation zone teams battle it out in the Saudi Pro League.

The Saudi Pro League will witness a match between two teams this Thursday who have found themselves in a predicament. Al Fateh and Al Wehda are both in the relegation zone and as such in desperate need of a win. The hosts are currently sitting with six points in 13 games and have just managed to win one game this season.

Al Fateh would have been on a four-match losing streak in the league had it not been for the heroics of forward Ali Al-Masoud who helped the Al-Ahsa based club to a draw against Al Shabab (2-2) in their last league game. Their rivals Al Wehda too are in a similar situation. The Josef Zinnbauer-managed side have won a game more than Al Fateh in the Saudi League and are on nine points in the exact number of games.

Kick-Off:

Thursday 9th January, 8:15 PM IST

Location: Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi stadium, Hofuf, Saudi Arabia

Form:

Al Fateh : D-L-L-L-D

Al Wehda : L-L-W-L-L

Players to Watch

Suhayb Al Zaid (Al Fateh)

Suhayb Al Zaid will keep the midfield operations in his control with his deft touches and forward runs. The 20-year-old has provided two crucial assists for his team and will look to add more to his tally.

In spite of Al Zaid’s best efforts, the club have been underperforming much to the dismay of their fans. The youngster can just prove to be a game-changer and emerge as their saviour in the upcoming game against Al Wehda. Suhayb has played in almost all the games for Al Zaid this season and as such become indispensable for his side. However, he has also been on the receiving end of two yellow cards.

Craig Goodwin (Al Wehda)

With three goals and three assists Craig Goodwin is doing everything right for Al-Wehda. The 33-year-old left winger is fresh from scoring against Al Akhdoud. The Adelaide-born player will certainly create problems for Al Fateh if they are not careful.

This also happens to be Goodwin’s second spell at the Saudi club. He last joined the club in 2019 and made 29 appearances.
