Al-Hilal ace Neymar to return for ACL match against Al Ain: Latest injury update

The Brazilian is nearing a return and could be available in the AFC Champions League match.

According to the reports from Brazil on Monday, Brazil star Neymar has made great progress in his knee recuperation and may be ready to play on October 21.

A year has passed since the Al-Hilal star suffered a ruptured ACL and meniscus in his left knee while playing for Brazil on international duty.

On September 29, Neymar, 32, was seen back in training with Al-Hilal. Neymar may be able to return to action in time for Al-Hilal’s AFC Champions League match against Al Ain on October 21, according to those keeping a close eye on his development.

The final decision regarding Neymar’s return to the playing field will be made by Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus. He must first get the go-ahead from Rodrigo Lasmar, the Brazil team physician who performed Neymar’s operation.

In the upcoming days, Lasmar is anticipated to visit Saudi Arabia to assess the player’s level of fitness. Brazil’s all-time top scorer, Neymar, joined the Saudi Pro League team from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023. However, he has only played five games before suffering an injury.

The Brazilian Football Confederation is keeping a careful eye on the situation and hopes Neymar will be ready for the World Cup qualifying matches against Uruguay and Venezuela in November.

Neymar’s career has been largely marred by injuries. He also was on the sidelines during his time at PSG. However while at Barcelona the forward enjoyed the peak of his career.

Ever since joining the Ligue 1 club, his career has taken a massive dip. He continued to suffer injuries. The player failed to lead the club to a European trophy although came close quite a few times.

The French club later decided to sell him. The Saudi side were keen to bring such a big name to their club and signed him last season. But after playing five matches Neymar suffered a season-ending injury. Now he is on course to make a return to football once again.
