The Blue Waves will take on the People’s Club in the quarter-finals of the King Cup of Champions.

The Saudi Pro League’s table-topper will face their arch-rivals Al Hilal in the King Cup of Champions quarterfinal on Tuesday evening. Both teams have a great history and are top-quality teams. Overall both of the teams are filled with stars as both teams have ample national team players of Saudi Arabia as well as some of the best foreign players.

King’s Cup is an important competition and surely after this match one of the team’s dreams of winning this competition will go away. Al Hilal have a lot of injured players and this will make their job very difficult as Al Ittihad are in great form. The Blue Waves does have a great record against them but as of now surely the team in yellow are looking better.

On the Other hand, Al Ittihad do have a two-point lead in the Saudi Pro League and in this crucial competition as well they will look to outperform their rivals. Both teams will play their first competitive match of this year and will look to make their fans happy. This will be a mouthwatering clash for sure.

Kick-Off:

Tuesday, 7 Jan 2024 at, 05:30 PM UK, 11:00 PM IST

Location: Kingdom Arena

Form

Al Hilal (in all competitions): W-W-W-D-L

Al Ittihad (in all competitions): W-W-W-W-W

Players to Watch

Marcos Leonardo (Al Hilal)

Standing at 5’7, height is not something Leonardo relies on, yet his jumping reach makes him very effective in aerial situations. He is not blessed with raw pace, but his ability, quick reactions and decision-making make him special. The Brazilian is able to recognise spaces very quickly and his quick decision-making helps him to exploit the opposition’s defence.

Leonardo is a versatile player who can play various attacking positions for the team. A hardworking player who has a great work ethic. In the absence of key players, he will have to step up to help out his team. In nine matches he scored three goals and in five ACL matches, he scored three goals.

Steven Bergwijn (Al Ittihad)

The Dutchman’s advantage when it comes to playmaking is because he primarily plays as an inverted winger. His position as an inverted winger allows him to create chances for himself and his teammates. He can dribble the ball forward, and inwards, towards the opposition’s box.

He did face a lot of criticism when he joined the Saudi outfit but as of now he has adapted well to his new team and is looking in good form. With his pace and trickery, he will create problems for Al Hilal in the defence for sure. In 11 league matches, he scored four and provided four assists.
