Ronaldo has won only one trophy with Al-Nassr.

The Portuguese “doesn’t like coming second,” Al-Nassr have been told what they need to do to fulfil Cristiano Ronaldo’s title aspirations this season.

Since arriving in the Middle East in 2023, five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo has only added one trophy to his collection. Despite maintaining impressive individual standards—84 goals in 93 appearances—collective success has proven difficult to achieve for the former Manchester United star.

This is being demonstrated once more this season, as Al-Nassr are currently eight points behind table-topping arch-rivals Al-Hilal and in fourth place in the Saudi Pro League after 17 games. However, attempts are underway to push through more large-scale transfers to reinforce the team in order to fulfil Ronaldo’s wish to win the title this term.

Ronaldo’s close friend Piers Morgan, who has conducted multiple interviews with him, has explained to Al-Nassr’s official media what must occur to help Ronaldo win the championship.

“Al-Nassr, clearly at the moment, are not quite firing how I think Cristiano would like them to.

“Probably need a few new players coming in to help him, and then they can really compete to win the title. I know Cristiano, he wants to win the league. He doesn’t like coming second, or third, or fourth. He wants to win. Need a few more winners in that team and you can do it.”

The enduring 39-year-old Ronaldo is anticipated to agree to a 12-month extension to his record-breaking deal in Riyadh, which would take him through the summer of 2026 and the upcoming World Cup finals.

With Al-Nassr in the fourth place of the league eight points adrift of both second and first place it will be challenging for them to participate in the title race this season unless the team above them drops points. Only that could open the title race wide open once again.
