France's Antoine Griezmann announces retirement from international football

Griezmann is the fourth-most capped player for Les Bleus.
France ace Antoine Griezmann has decided to retire from international football putting an end to his glittering career with the national team.
Antoine Griezmann led France to the FIFA World 2018 trophy and was also a key part of Les Bleus’ recent history.
The 33-year-old will go down as France’s fourth-most capped player with 135 appearances for the national team, recording 44 goals – which is also the fourth-most for France.
The former Barcelona striker has had many wonderful memories with France, as during their triumph in the 2018 World Cup, where he was named the Man of the Match in the final when France beat Croatia. Also winning the UEFA Nations League. While he was a top scorer at Euros 2016 when France lost he final 1-0 to Portugal.
After announcing his retirement from international football the forward took to social media and wrote: “It is with a heart full of memories that I close this chapter of my life,” Antoine Griezmann said. “Thank you for this magnificent tricolor adventure and see you soon.”
Antoine Griezmann was one of France’s most valuable players and has played for France in the U-19, U-20 and U-21 levels, the forward made his debut for the senior national team on March 5, 2014, in an exhibition game against the Netherlands.
Following that he went on to become an integral part of the Les Bleus squad and helped them achieve the 2018 World Cup, and reach the finals of the 2022 World Cup and 2016 Euro.
France are going to miss the most important player and will have a hard time finding his replacement, given the kind of impact the 33-year-old had in the national team.
But the forward retired after winning a World Cup, one of the top achievements for a player who devoted so many years to his national team. Griezmann’s now entire focus will be club career as he will hope to win many more trophies with Atletico Madrid.
