Are Chelsea turning out to be Liverpool's biggest threat in Premier League title race?

The Blues are second in the Premier League table.
The weekend’s biggest winners were Chelsea, who moved two points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League title battle and closed the distance to leaders Liverpool to four points.
Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 after falling down 2-0. They made the most of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Fulham and Liverpool’s match against Everton being postponed on Saturday due to inclement weather.
The Blues are slowly appearing to be more likely title challengers to Liverpool as they continue their winning run in the league. It was least expected from the west Londoners given the revamp in the squad and change in manager once again.
However, with the year coming to an end Enzo Maresca’s side still have more than three games and they will hope to sweep all the matches to maintain pressure on the Reds.
Will Chelsea put a dent on Liverpool’s title hopes?
With four straight victories, Enzo Maresca’s team has the best winning streak in the Premier League and are now undefeated since losing to Liverpool on October 20.
Along with winning eight of their previous ten away Premier League games, the Blues have more away points than any other team this season—19, two more than Liverpool.
Since taking over in the summer, Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca has kept his team out of the running for the championship, claiming that his squad might “dominate” English football in “five to ten years” and that this is only the beginning of his project.
Following the victory at Spurs, Maresca reaffirmed such beliefs, stating: “We are not ready [to win the title]. These teams—Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool—are far away from us.
“After the game, my message to the players was to be focused day by day, in the next game, because if you start to think about where we are in three or four games, it’s completely wrong.”
Chelsea have so far scored seven more goals than they did during their whole 50-match 2022–2023 campaign, with 57 goals in 22 games across all competitions.
Chelsea are the Premier League’s top attacking power, leading the goal-scoring charts with 31 goals and setting the standard for shot conversion rate among the top four championship candidates. This is despite the fact that the numbers below demonstrate that they cannot compete defensively with Arne Slot’s team.
They currently score 2.6 goals per game, which is the highest average in the club’s history. There isn’t any evidence that Chelsea are any less competitive than its championship opponents based solely on Premier League statistics.
History indicates that Chelsea’s youngsters may prove Maresca right, as they are still too young to mount a sustained title threat during this current campaign.
