Arsenal considering appointing PSG's Luis Campos as next sporting director

Campos has signed many top players at different clubs.
Luis Campos is apparently being courted by Arsenal to become their new sporting director. After the unexpected departure of club veteran Edu Gaspar. The Gunners need to fill this important position as soon as possible.
Mikel Arteta’s team became a title challenger thanks in part to the Invincibles champion, who brought many notable names to the club.
However, earlier this month, he shocked Arsenal by announcing his departure to become the CEO of Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ footballing conglomerate. There is no longer a motivating factor for the Gunners on the transfer market.
Additionally, January upgrades might be required because Arteta’s team are already nine points below Premier League leaders Liverpool.
According to Sky Sports, a number of candidates are being considered, including Roberto Olabe, a former Real Sociedad player, and Simon Rolfes of Bayer Leverkusen.
But at the top of Arsenal’s list is none other than Paris Saint-Germain chief Campos. At PSG, the Portuguese scout supremo is currently known as the “Football Advisor.”
Two years after leaving Lille, Campos joined the French champions in 2022 while still serving as an external advisor for Celta Vigo of Spain.
Additionally, he has managed to make the French giants spend an incredible £640 million over five transfer windows, acquiring players like Randal Kolo Muani, Ousmane Dembele, and Vitinha.
Before his time at PSG, Celta, and Lille, Campos gained notoriety as AS Monaco’s sporting director from 2013 to 2016. He assisted them in signing big-name players like James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao, and Bernardo Silva at that time.
With a squad full of Campos’ additions, including Fabinho, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Thomas Lemar, Monaco swept to the Ligue 1 championship a year after he left and joined PSG.
When Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe joined Monaco‘s academy for the first time in the summer of 2013, Campos was also in command. Now, Arsenal might be the next place for his footballing journey as their new sporting director.
