Arsenal earn 2-2 draw against Manchester City; John Stones saved the day for Pep Guardiola's side

City remain on top of the table despite a draw against Gunners.
Arsenal had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Manchester City in a highly intense clash with a red card in the game. The Gunners went behind just nine minutes into the game after Erling Haaland found the back of the net.
Haaland also reached a milestone with City after scoring a goal. He netted his 100th goal for Manchester City since he arrived at the club in just his third season. Certainly a big thing for the player given he scored a century of goals in just three terms.
The game had just commenced as City continued to put pressure on the visitors. But Mikel Arteta’s side finally found a way through when the summer signing Riccardo Calafiori levelled the scoring.
The visitors were a better side and remained compact despite missing one of the important players Martin Odegaard. Arsenal looked more stable and controlled the match.
Arsenal once again reaped the reward for their excellent display against the defending champions, when Gabriel Magalhães put Arteta’s side ahead in the contest.
Despite City looking to find an equaliser Arsenal didn’t succumb to their pressure. The Gunners were calm throughout the game. But right after Magalhães put them ahead the Gunners went down to 10 men. Leonardo Trossard was shown a second yellow card (which ultimately means red) followed by marching orders.
This was an excellent moment for the host to pile up more duress on the visitors but Arsenal were impressive at the back. They didn’t allow City to find a way through in the game.
With the Premier League game heading deep into extra time it appeared the Gunners would return home with all three points. But City managed to find the back of the net through John Stones in 90+8′.
It’s a pity that 10-man Arsenal were cruising to a massive win but ended up with just a point. Hopefully they will be happy with a point as their performance is an indication that they will once again look to challenge City for the title this term.
Arsenal are fourth in the table with Manchester City summit of the standing with 13 points, while Liverpool second and third are Aston Villa.
