Arsenal identify Viktor Gyökeres & Bryan Mbeumo as potential replacements for Gabriel Jesus: Report

The Brazilian has suffered a new injury and is out for the entire season.
Gabriel Jesus sustained a season-ending ACL injury over the weekend, forcing Arsenal to look for a replacement striker this month through the January transfer market.
For Mikel Arteta’s team, who will be hoping to continue to contend for the Premier League crown and advance further in the UEFA Champions League, it is a serious setback. But there aren’t many options available.
L’Équipe is aware that Arsenal would typically look for Alexander Isak and Jonathan David as targets, but neither Newcastle United nor LOSC Lille are open to hearing bids for their No. 9s this month.
They further claim that a transfer for Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting might be taken into consideration. The Premier League team wouldn’t be reluctant to activate the prolific Swedish forward’s €100 million release clause, especially since the €116 million they paid for Declan Rice only a few windows ago. L’Équipe is aware that Arteta also admires Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.
Since Ivan Toney left, the 25-year-old has performed admirably, tallying 13 goals and dishing out three assists in just 20 league games. With this total, he is tied for fourth position among the league’s top scorers, with only Cole Palmer (14), Mohamed Salah (18) and Erling Haaland (16) scoring more than him.
With 224 games in all competitions, 63 goals and 45 assists, his total record with Brentford is outstanding. He is a desirable choice for Arsenal because of his reliable performances and Premier League background.
For the Portuguese team, Gyokeres has registered 75 goals in 80 appearances, 32 of which have come in 30 games this season. With 13 goals and five assists in 15 appearances for Sweden in 2024, he has also shown himself to be a threat on the international scene.
The 26-year-old has a €100 million (£83 million) release clause, but Sporting might let the Swede leave for less if Arsenal wait until the summer.
