114 Points: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's target to beat Manchester City in upcoming Premier League season

The Gunners came close to winning Premier League title last season.
Mikel Arteta is preparing his side for the upcoming campaign using the pre-season. Arsenal won 2-1 against Manchester United in their opening pre-season game.
The Spanish manager nearly won the Premier League title twice since taking over the North Londoners. But Manchester City have undone their efforts both times.
In the 2022–23 season, Arsenal were close to winning their first title since 2003–04. But their form dropped and they suffered big setbacks in the last few matches of that term. This allowed Manchester City to jump ahead and take the lead, as they won their third successive title under Pep Guardiola.
The previous season was similar. Arsenal were just inches away from winning the championship. But City had a game in hand left to play. They managed to emerge victorious, leaving the Gunners to deal with yet another disappointment and making history as the first team in Premier League history to win four titles in a row.
This time Arteta will hope that his team don’t make any mistakes and excel in every match. He will be looking to turn things around and give Arsenal their first-ever title in over two decades.
When asked about what it will take to win the title next season, the former Manchester City assistant coach said: “114 points – if we do that, we will win the league for sure. This is the objective, win every single game & earn the right to win it”.
Since taking over, Arteta has been able to refashion the Gunners from the ground up. But winning the league title and contending with Manchester City will need more than that. In addition to being consistent, Pep Guardiola’s team has sufficient experience and knows when they must step up in significant games of the season.
Arsenal have witnessed this twice. This time they will be more than prepared to finally break City’s title-winning streak, as Arteta has assembled a side that can dominate the Premier League for years to come.
But the thing that is lacking is commitment, which players fail to show in every game. Sometimes they come short in crucial matches that could prove to be title-decider games.
Hopefully, in the upcoming season, we will see a different Arsenal who will finally look to break City’s dominance in the league.
