Arsenal new signing Viktor Gyokeres breaks shirt sales record

The striker has inherited Henry’s No.14 at the club.
The statistics demonstrate how enthusiastically Arsenal fans have greeted Viktor Gyokeres in North London. Early data indicate that demand for the Swedish striker’s No. 14 shirt has reached previously unheard-of levels in both physical and online retail channels, shattering prior club sales records for a new signing.
On July 26, the Gunners successfully acquired Gyokeres from Sporting CP, paying an initial €63.5 million (£54.8 million or $74.2 million) to secure his services. Gyokeres received roaring cheers from the crowd when he was properly introduced to them before the friendly match against Newcastle United at Singapore’s National Stadium.
There was a noticeable buzz among the supporters, many of whom believe he is the answer to the team’s protracted quest for a capable centre-forward.
Thierry Henry, the team’s all-time top scorer, once wore the No. 14 shirt, which is beloved in the club’s history. Gyokeres is said to have liked the number nine, but his willingness to wear 14 has only made him more popular with supporters who see it as a representation of Arsenal’s attacking heritage.
Arsenal’s previous record broken with Viktor Gyokeres’ shirt sales

In celebration of his acquisition, the team launched a promotion that lets supporters get “Gyokeres 14” printed on any Arsenal jersey for the upcoming season for free.
His shirt, which usually costs £16, was offered through the team’s online store as well as at official club stores. The amount of excitement surrounding the promotion was so great that the sheer volume of traffic caused Arsenal’s online store to momentarily crash.
Before Gyokeres’ arrival, shirts with the names Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka were regularly among the best-selling items.
However, Gyokeres has swiftly surpassed them all, indicating both his enormous popularity and the high hopes for his future in an Arsenal uniform.
In preparation for the upcoming phase of the preseason trip, Gyokeres joined the team for a training session with Arsenal in Singapore on Tuesday morning. The club will now travel to Hong Kong, where on Thursday, July 31, they will play rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Kai Tak Sports Park.
