Atletico Madrid strike £82m deal with Manchester City for Julian Alvarez

Personal terms between Alvarez and the Spanish club were agreed way back.
Julian Alvarez will be on his way to Spain. Manchester City agreed to Atletico Madrid’s offer of £82 million (€95 million) for the striker. The Spanish club have been in talks with City for the last few days. The discussions have progressed well between the two clubs.
Atletico are set to pay £64 million upfront (€75 million), with the remainder of the fee coming in add-ons. It will be a record sale for City.
City will make an immense profit from the exit of the Argentine striker after the Premier League club paid just £14 million to River Plate in 2022. Meanwhile, personal terms were never an issue as the forward had already accepted to join the Spanish club.
Now it’s just a matter of time before the deal will be announced. Alvarez will travel to Spain for his medical. Since joining the Premier League club, the 24-year-old has appeared in 103 games for City scoring 36 goals.
During his short stint at City, he won Premier League titles as well as the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup titles in 2023. He also won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina as well as the Copa America 2024 recently.
It’s going to be a new start to his life when he joins the Spanish club after spending two years at Manchester City. The striker has won every trophy possible and is now going to be a main player for Atletico.
He is one of the most talented forwards and will hope to make a difference for Atletico. Alvarez will have a chance to become a household name and cement himself as one of the top strikers of Atletico like Fernando Torress, Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa.
Alvarez is just 24 and has a long career ahead of him. At Atletico, he will certainly have a big role to play in order to break the dominance of Barcelona and Real Madrid in LaLiga.
