Barcelona confirm Dani Olmo set to miss three weeks of action

The midfielder has endured an injury-ridden season at the club so far.
Dani Olmo, one of FC Barcelona’s main players, suffered an injury during Thursday night’s 3-0 victory over CA Osasuna at Montjuic.
Due to a medical issue, the Spanish midfielder was substituted shortly after scoring the team’s second goal of the evening from the penalty spot.
The Blaugrana have now formally acknowledged that Olmo has suffered an adductor injury and will be sidelined for around three weeks.
“Tests conducted this morning have confirmed that first-team player Dani Olmo has a right adductor injury. He is expected to be out for around three weeks,” the club statement read.
Olmo’s first season at Barcelona has been challenging because of his persistent fitness troubles in addition to his registration problems.
Before his most recent setback, the 26-year-old had already missed more than ten games this season due to two injuries.
Olmo is expected to miss no less than five or six more games, including the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid and the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals against Borussia Dortmund, as his most recent injury will keep him out of action for about three weeks.
Following the untimely death of Carles Minarro Garcia, Barcelona’s club doctor, the midweek match was hastily rearranged. Osasuna and the Catalan team both argued against the revised date, which was announced right after the international break in March.
Olmo also played in Spain’s two-legged Nations League games against the Netherlands last week, demonstrating his involvement in international service, which the La Roja won on penalty shootouts.
Over the next two weeks, Barcelona will play critical games in the Copa del Rey and Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.
Following Sunday’s LaLiga Catalan derby against Girona, Barcelona will travel to the capital on Wednesday, April 2, to play Atletico Madrid in a crucial Copa del Rey semi-final. The encounter is tied after a 4–4 draw in the first leg.
