The former Real Madrid star has one year left on his Spurs deal.

According to Sky Sports, FC Barcelona have enquired about Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon, a former left-back for Real Madrid. The Spanish side want to add more depth to their left-back area.

A transfer for the Spanish defender is reportedly being considered by the Blaugrana, given that he has one year remaining on his Spurs contract.

Barcelona said farewell to Marcos Alonso this summer after his contract expired. This has left them without a capable left-back alternative to support Alejandro Balde.

Nonetheless, Gerard Martin of Barcelona Athletic and returning loanee Alex Valle are options for boss Hansi Flick. Both players made an impression during the pre-season tour of the United States.

Indeed, speculations surfaced earlier today suggesting that the Barcelona head coach was prepared to wager on Martin as Balde’s backup for the upcoming campaign.

Due to this, the rumours of Barcelona’s interest in Sergio Reguilon seem a little odd, even if the former Real Madrid player has been connected to Barcelona previously.

Reguilon has no place in coach Ange Postecoglou’s plans, which is why he is out of favour at Tottenham. The left-back moved to Brentford for the second part of the previous season after spending the first half of it on loan at Manchester United.

With the Spanish international’s contract coming to an end in the summer of 2025, Tottenham are eager to sell him.

Moving to Barcelona, though, seems improbable at this point because the Catalans have other goals in mind, such as Nico Williams and Joao Cancelo.
