The Catalan club has been plagued by injuries this season.

FC Barcelona are finally facing the consequences of their injury problem. We watched the Blaugranes endure their first LaLiga setback of the season, 4-2 against Osasuna over the weekend. Marc-Andre ter Stegen was absent after suffering a season-ending injury which saw Inaki Pena take his place. The good news is that Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, and Frenkie de Jong—four of their injured players—should return soon.

One positive news is that De Jong has started training with the team and will be available for their Champions League against Young Boys.

They have to get them back as soon as possible since the UEFA Champions League is taking place on Tuesday night.

Barcelona injury news against Young Boys

Frenkie de Jong is fully recovered from his injury after five months and is eligible for Barcelona’s Champions League match against Young Boys.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played for his club or nation since suffering an ankle injury during El Clásico on April 21. De Jong had an injury that prevented him from playing in both Barcelona’s first nine games of the 2024–25 season and the whole Euro 2024 campaign, just when it appeared like he might play for the Netherlands.

“If Frenkie gets the chance to play, he will,” Flick said. “I don’t know if [it will be 45 minutes], 20 or 10. It will be good for him, in my opinion. And it’s great news for us to have Frenkie in the team.”

Meanwhile, Gavi is expected to be in November after he has started solo training, while Fermind Lopez is yet to start practising after suffering a muscle problem the same with new signing Dani Olmo, who has had a vibrant start to the season but unfortunately picked up a muscle problem and returns remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo, who suffered a hamstring injury, is anticipated to return in November. Andreas Christensen’s comeback is expected to be next year. Hansi Flick has been left with only a few options and will need to work things out and get by with what he has for the time being.
