Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski sidelined for three weeks with thigh injury: Report

The Polish striker is set to miss Barcelona’s Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.
The club have formally announced that Robert Lewandowski suffered an injury to the “semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh” during Barcelona’s triumph over Celta Vigo.
The extent of his recovery is contingent on how his body reacts to therapy. However, the short-term outlook is not encouraging, according to the club’s medical statement.
“The tests carried out this Sunday have confirmed that Robert Lewandowski has suffered an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh.
“His return to team dynamics will be decided based on his progress,” read a statement from the club.
The Polish striker will most likely miss at least three weeks of football due to the severity of the injury, which will be evident after their LaLiga match against Mallorca and another crucial league match against Valladolid.
Lewandowski’s absence from the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid and the pivotal first leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Inter Milan on April 30 is more pressing overall.
Robert Lewandowski’s chances of being healthy for the May 6 return leg of the Champions League semi-final seem slim, though.
Even then, Hansi Flick and the medical staff will need to exercise caution as he would be arriving at great risk and with little preparation. The staff and the team could go through tough moments as a result of Lewandowski’s injury.
The seasoned attacker had been having trouble finding his best form, only managing two goals in his previous six games, both of which came against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.
However, Barça have benefited from the fact that they have performed remarkably well this season without Lewandowski. They have won all three of their games without him, scoring five goals each, in all competitions.
Barcelona are still holding out hope that Robert Lewandowski will be able to make it back in time for the season’s last stretch, which might include a Champions League final in Munich on May 31.
