The Canadian left-back is linked with a move to Real Madrid
Uli Hoeneß, the president of Bayern Munich, blasted Alphonso Davies’ agreement constraints and warned that if he doesn’t extend his contract, they will sell him for nothing and won’t pay his salary. The left-back is now in the final year of his contract at Bayern and has not indicated that he plans to extend it.
The Canadian has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the Spanish club are yet to start any negotiations with Bayern. Meanwhile, The German club wants €60m for the left-back which Real Madrid are reluctant to pay which has stalled the deal.
Now fullback faces a big issue at Bayern and is left with only two options. He will either have to renew his deal or leave for free without being paid by the club.
Hoeneß on Davies’ contract situation: “We told him very clearly that if he doesn’t renew his contract, we will let it expire”. “He won’t get any more money”.
Last season Davies was barely used under then-manager Thomas Tuchel, though things could change as German club has appointed Vincent Kompany and Davies could have a big role to play under him.
The 23-year-old was crucial in leading Canada to the Copa America semi-final for the first time in their history and now will return to club training ahead of the next season.
Bayern interested in signing Florian Wirtz
Hoeneß has made no secret of signing Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirzt who has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season with Leverkusen and won the Bundesliga title.
Wirzt’s performance last season saw him attract interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern and maybe this summer either of the club could go for his signing. However, it’s unlikely that Wirtz will leave Leverkusen this season but next summer there could be a queue of clubs desperate to sign him.
Bayern president HoeneB confirmed that he wants to sign the German forward and said: “Everyone knows that I would love to see Florian Wirtz at Bayern”.
Hoeneb says Matthijs de Ligt could leave Bayern
Matthijs de Ligt’s future remains uncertain at Bayern as the defender has been approached by Manchester United and is said to be open to joining them, though United have not begun any talks with the German club over a potential move.
With the signing of Leny Yoro now it could be doubtful that United would go for the Dutch defender. But Bayern’s president confirmed he might leave, and said:
“It’s possible that a defender will leave. De Ligt is Dutch, the coach at Manchester United is Dutch. I would have no problem if he stays.
