The Red Devils are working to renew the midfielder’s deal at the club.
According to The Sun, Bayern Munich are set to enter the competition to sign Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo. Reports also suggest that if the midfielder’s wage demands are not met by Manchester United, he may be leaving Old Trafford.
Mainoo is aiming for a new contract for £200,000 per week, as his present one, which pays a reported £20,000 per week, expires in 2027.
However, it is thought that United are hesitant to go so high, which has given rise to rumours that Mainoo may depart the team this transfer window or during the summer.
Although Chelsea are the front-runner for the midfield player, more sources have discovered that other teams are also interested in him. Bayern also intend to make a move if he becomes available, reports suggest.
It comes days after Mainoo was challenged by Ruben Amorim to prove he was worthy of joining Man Utd’s elite. The England star, despite his quick ascent, is among their lowest-paid players and demands a ten-fold raise.
Amorim is aware that the 19-year-old midfielder is a gem at Old Trafford. Mainoo has had an incredible 18 months and is currently making a reported £20,000 a week.
Kobbie Mainoo’s quick rise at Manchester United
Due to an injury he acquired during the summer tour, he was unable to start the previous season. However, he quickly established himself as a regular after joining the first squad in November and made a significant impression.
As the main player in United’s FA Cup final victory over City last term, Mainoo scored the game-winning goal to cap off an incredible breakout campaign. He also impressed for England during the Euro 2024 campaign.
He also made an impression in United’s most recent two games, the FA Cup victory over Arsenal at the Emirates and the thrilling draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
Yet the United chief insists Mainoo still needs plenty of polishing and said: “Kobbie has been improving a lot over the last few matches.
“But I think you guys feel like he is the finished product — he is not. He is really good but can be so much better. He has so much potential to grow up even more.
