Bruno Fernandes drops Manchester United exit hint after Europa League final defeat

The Red Devils’ captain has been linked to several clubs.
Following his heartbreak in the Europa League final, Bruno Fernandes gave an update on his future plans at Manchester United.
As the Red Devils’ captain, the Portugal international had hoped to win more significant awards. But in San Mames in Bilbao, he witnessed Tottenham Hotspur fight their way to a European title.
Before United suffered yet another heartbreaking defeat in what has been an incredibly sad season for everyone involved, Bruno Fernandes was the focus of transfer rumours. Real Madrid and Saudi Pro League teams have been linked with him.
The 30-year-old midfielder has a contract that runs until at least 2027, with the possibility of a 12-month extension after that. He has now revealed that he will only leave Old Trafford if United determines that money from sales is needed.
When questioned about his future by reporters just after losing out on another trophy, Bruno Fernandes said:
“I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go. I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to great days.
“In the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way. If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash in or whatever, it’s what it is, and football sometimes is like this.”
Bruno Fernandes is optimistic that fellow countryman Ruben Amorim will be given the opportunity to lead another rebuild while pledging to stay till 2025–2026, despite having only 15 victories in his 41 games as United’s manager.
United have one more game this season, against top-five contenders Aston Villa, at home on Sunday. United are currently 16th in the Premier League standings and have not qualified for any European competition in the upcoming season. After that, they’ll travel to the Far East for a few friendly games in the postseason.
