The Portuguese player wants every United player to be in the spotlight this season.
After being singled out for praise during the catastrophic campaign of the previous season, Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, wants to “hear less” about himself going into the new season.
He was the only player who had a decent individual season (2024-25) despite the club’s one of the worst finishes in the league.
Notwithstanding United’s dismal season, Bruno Fernandes scored 19 goals in all competitions and was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award along with Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister, Alexander Isak, Declan Rice, and Cole Palmer.
Bruno Fernandes eager to step away from the limelight

However, the Portugal international stated that he is eager to step away from the limelight and expects that the squad will be the centre of attention instead.
“I hope you’ll hear less about Bruno this year, but a lot more about United,” Fernandes said in an interview with ESPN Brasil.
“That’s my main objective because my name being spoken, let’s say vaguely alone, It doesn’t fill me with pride or anything.
“United being talked about, being positive, that’s the most important thing and that’s what I want for this season.
“If it happens that Bruno has to score fewer goals, provide less assists or do another type of provision of what is necessary for the games, I would be very happy.”
Despite the challenges of the previous season, Old Trafford will now exude a guarded confidence.
With the acquisition of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko during the summer transfer window, many supporters are feeling upbeat ahead of their Sunday’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.
Bruno Fernandes is eager for the new campaign to begin as well. However, he acknowledges that in his five and a half years at the club, he has witnessed many false dawns and hopes that this time will be different.
