Cafu comments on Cristiano Ronaldo's 'best player in football history' remark

The Brazilian has hit back at Ronaldo’s recent interview
Cafu recently expressed his opinions regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s audacious assertion that he is the best and most complete player in football history. The legendary Brazilian right-back made it clear that he does not think Ronaldo is the best football player of all time, even though he acknowledged the Portuguese star’s amazing career.
Despite being forty years old, Cristiano Ronaldo’s ability to score goals in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr is still impressive. Ronaldo has solidified his status as one of the greatest football players of all time with more than 900 goals in his career and many other individual and team honours.
But his latest claim that he is the greatest and most complete player in history, made in an interview with writer Edu Aguirre of El Chiringuito, has caused controversy in the football world and certainly not many fans and pundits have agreed with his comments.
Two-time World Cup champion and Brazil’s most-capped player, Cafu, recently commented on Ronaldo’s assertion. Journalist Randall Vargas questioned Cafu if Ronaldo was the best player in history. Cafu’s response, as reported by the Costa Rican publication La Nacion, was:
“Cristiano is a phenomenon, but not the best player of all time. If we talk about all time, we have to mention Maradona, Pele, Platini, Franz Beckenbauer, and Garrincha. We are talking about incredible players.”
The Brazilian legend further elaborated:
“Cristiano Ronaldo was the best for six or seven years, but in a discussion about the best in history, we must consider footballers who played better than him.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has never held back when claiming to be the best football player of all time. Before his most recent comments, he had said time and time again that he thinks he is the best, regardless of what other people think.
There is still disagreement among fans, players, and commentators over Ronaldo’s place in football history, despite his steadfast confidence and statistical accomplishments in his playing career.
