The Brazilian is reportedly eyeing a move away from Old Trafford
According to reports, Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is prepared to accept a transfer to the Saudi Pro League as his time at Old Trafford might come to an end in January.
In what was anticipated to be a significant move for the Red Devils to turn around their declining fortunes, Casemiro left Real Madrid to join Manchester United in the summer of 2022. Ruben Amorim not anymore has the five-time Champions League champion in his sights for the future though, since he has failed to duplicate his Los Blancos form at Old Trafford.
According to the Brazilian publication UOL, Casemiro has now agreed to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia has expressed a strong interest in the former Real Madrid midfielder for Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, or Al-Ettifaq. Al-Qadsiyah, a newbie to the Saudi Pro League, is also interested.
Will Casemiro leave United in January?
Due to the SPL’s announcement that none of its clubs have any open spaces for foreign players, the Saudi Pro League clubs will still need to find a way to sign Casemiro. In order to do so, they will need to sell or de-register one of its current players in January.
The Brazilian demonstrated why United shelled out the big sum to sign the player in his first season at the club but has so failed to emulate similar performances after that and has become a surplus of requirement at the club.
United did manage to find his replacement Manuel Ugarte but seems like the club will have to find his backup as well as their performance in the middle of the pitch has been subpar given Casemiro has failed to turn up in Uruguayan’s absence.
If Casemiro will depart the team in January, supporters will have to wait and find out. The Brazilian may be benched again on Sunday when the Red Devils face Liverpool after contributing to a lacklustre United effort against Newcastle the last time out.
