Chelsea could send Jadon Sancho back to Man United by paying 'financial penalty': Report

Sancho is considered a big flop after joining the Blues.
According to reports, Chelsea could pay a “financial penalty” and send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United in a dramatic reversal of their loan agreement.
After his relationship with the previous United manager, Erik ten Hag broke down last season, Sancho headed to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan. The deal stipulates that Chelsea must purchase if they place 14th or higher in the Premier League, with a price ranging from £22 to $25 million based on their ultimate standing.
Ironically, Enzo Maresca’s team is currently in fourth place, much ahead of United, who are in 14th place. As a result, it seems likely that the requirements for a permanent move will be satisfied.
The Daily Mail claims that if Chelsea decides to back out of the deal, Sancho may still return to Old Trafford this summer, but it would come at a “significant financial cost” in accordance with the conditions set with United.
According to reports, the West Londoners are monitoring a number of wingers, with Jesus Rodriguez, a Real Betis player, surfacing as a possible summer transfer window target.
Sancho’s contract discussions are another element making matters more difficult. Personal terms are usually negotiated beforehand to guarantee a smooth transition when a player joins a team on loan with a purchase obligation. However, according to the report, the 24-year-old and Chelsea have not yet agreed on long-term pay and other conditions.
Sancho’s £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 is still weighing heavily on United’s finances. Sir Jim Ratcliffe mentioned the winger as one of several former regime signings that INEOS must deal with, and he confirmed that an additional £17 million of the transfer fee was due this season.
Sancho reportedly makes £250,000 a week, with United now paying a chunk of his wages and the Blues paying £100,000. The player even has 16 months left on his lucrative five-year contract at Old Trafford.
The club would once again be liable for his whole pay if he returned to Old Trafford, which would cause more financial difficulties for United’s new ownership group.
