The Blues will start their quest for the trophy against Atlanta FC.
The roster list for Chelsea’s forthcoming FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the US has been confirmed. On Monday, June 16, the Blues play Los Angeles FC at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium to begin the competition.
Wesley Fofana is one of the squad’s major absences. After undergoing successful hamstring surgery in April, the 24-year-old defender has not fully healed to participate in the action in the United States.
Despite making an impression while on loan at Strasbourg, Djordje Petrovic, a Serbian goalkeeper, has also been left out. Andrey Santos, the only loanee from the 2024–2025 season, has been included in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
New signing Liam Delap is in the squad. The 22-year-old striker may be set to make his Chelsea debut on Monday night in Atlanta after completing a £30 million transfer from Ipswich Town last week.
Another recent addition to the Blues’ roster is Dario Essugo. The team also includes Mamadou Sarr, who was announced as a Chelsea player earlier this week.
Among the four goalkeepers are Gabriel Slonina, Robert Sanchez, and Filip Jorgensen. Mike Penders joined the team from Genk this summer. As previously stated, Santos will play in Chelsea’s first meaningful match since joining the team two years ago.
Following successful breakthrough seasons, Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong were both selected for the 28-man team. Although Marc Guiu, a Spaniard, is anticipated to be loaned out next season, he is also included in the squad.
Although Christopher Nkunku is on the list, it is quite likely that the Frenchman will leave Stamford Bridge this summer. On the flight to the US will be Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who likewise faces an unclear future.
