The Blues captain is set to miss the game with another injury.

Chelsea’s match against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon marks their return to play following the international break.

With Chelsea in third place in the Premier League standings, Enzo Maresca will be in control of his new side against his old club from the away dugout.

Although the Blues entered their two-week break from play following a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, they have several fitness issues going into this match.

This is in spite of the fact that three players were able to participate in Monday’s training before the rest of the players returned to Cobham.

Before Chelsea travel to the East Midlands to play the Foxes, we compile the most recent injury and suspension news here.

Chelsea injury update ahead of Leicester match

Reece James, the captain of Chelsea, will miss this weekend’s Premier League encounter against Leicester City due to yet another injury.

James played just over an hour in the Premier League loss against Liverpool last month after missing the opening part of the season due to a hamstring injury. Prior to last week’s international break, he also came off the bench against Arsenal and started games against Manchester United and Newcastle United.

However, after suffering another hamstring injury during training this week, the 24-year-old right-back is once again on the medical table.

Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia’s injury update

Romeo Lavia was unable to play for Belgium during the international break despite being substituted against Arsenal for what he later called “a little knock.” Since then, national team manager Domenico Tedesco has disclosed that the 20-year-old is battling a hamstring injury, raising serious doubts about his ability to play in this match.

Another player who was pulled against the Gunners due to an apparent injury to his foot or ankle was Malo Gusto. The right-back will have to fight to be fit here after being pulled from France Under-21 duty.

Wesley Fofana played the whole ninety minutes against Arsenal before being pulled from France’s international squad because of knee inflammation. Maresca will be hopeful that the prolonged rest will enable him to recuperate before rejoining the team.

Since joining the Blues from Aston Villa in the summer, Omari Kellyman has battled with fitness concerns. The forward is still out for this game because of a hamstring ailment, and it is unknown when he will be ready to return.
