The Blues narrowly edged Pafos 1-0 in the Champions League.

Following Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League victory over Pafos, Liam Rosenior gave the most recent player information. He talked about Cole Palmer, who was left out of the matchday squad, and Filip Jorgensen and Reece James, who did not finish the game.

At halftime, Robert Sanchez and Estevao Willian took Jorgensen’s and James’ places, respectively. Rosenior was disappointed with the impact on the goalie, even though he was unable to identify the nature of the injury or its severity.

“Unfortunately Filip picked something up,” the coach said.

“I’m devastated for him because he’s really impressed me, not just the game at Charlton but how he’s trained. Hopefully Filip can get better really quickly.”

Rosenior clarified that he was managing the skipper’s minutes by removing him during the intermission.

“We are playing Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, so we want to make sure Reece (James) is available as much as possible because he’s an outstanding player and a leader in our group.”

Rosenior said Palmer missed the Pafos game due to a “little bit of tightness in his thigh” before kickoff. The head coach gave some more information on the problem and reaffirmed his confidence that the number 10 will be available for the weekend trip to Crystal Palace.

“It was precautionary,” said Rosenior. “He felt something really minor in the game against Brentford. It was quite early on so credit to him for playing through it. I don’t want to risk any players at this stage, especially players of his quality.”

“He’s got a really good chance to be involved and start the game on Sunday, and we will keep preparing him for that.”

Why was Cole Palmer not in Chelsea’s squad for the Champions League game?

The manager revealed it was a precautionary measure.

Is Reece James injured?

No, his minutes on the pitch have been managed.

Where do Chelsea stand in the table?

They are eighth in the UCL table.
