A new era begins for the Blues under the leadership of Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are set to kick off their Premier League against reigning champions Manchester City in the opening weekend. Under the regime of Todd Boehly, the team have made several changes in the dugout with highly rated Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino as the head coach.

The Blues are starting to click under their new manager after showing glimpses of potential during the pre-season run. They have made some wonderful signings in the form of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Pedro Neto. They can prove to be a game-changer for them this season. With a possible addition of one or two top players in the squad, the Blues can mount a serious challenge for the top spots.

Chelsea predicted lineup (Formation: 4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper: Filip Jorgensen

The summer signing from Villarreal ticks all the boxes Enzo Maresca looks for in the goalkeeper. Jorgensen is a sweeper keeper who is comfortable with his feet which makes him a favoured choice for Maresca. Last season, he was among the best goalkeepers in LaLiga after making an astonishing 143 saves throughout the campaign. Jorgensen has all the tools to become one of the best goalkeepers in the coming years for Chelsea.

Right-Back: Malo Gusto

Malo Gusto was among the best performers for Chelsea last season. He linked up efficiently with the pair of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke down the right-hand side. Gusto made 37 appearances for the team providing nine assists. With Reece James set to miss out on the starting four matches, he has a brilliant chance to stake his place for the new season.

Centre-Back: Wesley Fofana

Wesley Fofana was signed for a huge sum from Leicester City back in the 2022 summer transfer window. However, things have not gone well for him since making the move as he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the preseason which sidelined him for the whole last season. However, this season looks to be the perfect opportunity for him to prove his credentials in the team after a strong pre-season run.

Centre-Back: Levi Colwill

Chelsea have one of the best academies in world football which every year produces some world-class talents. They often make a season-long loan move to gain experience elsewhere. Levi Colwill is one name who has benefitted from it after establishing himself in the first team following a successful loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion. Last season, he made 32 appearances for the team and will be hoping for a similar outcome this year.

Left-Back: Marc Cucurella

Marc Cucurella had a brilliant Euro 2024 campaign after helping Spain win the trophy by putting in a series of impressive performances at left-back. It was his brilliant assist in the final that secured the trophy for them. Cucurella is a perfect fit for the Maresca’s system having already played as an inverted fullback at the end of last season. He seems to be the natural choice for a spot at left-back this season.

Central Midfielder: Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez is set to play an important role for Chelsea this season after being handed the vice-captaincy role with Maresca seeing him as one of the leaders in his new-look team. Last season, he made 40 appearances for the team in all competitions, scoring seven goals and assisting another three. Fernandez remains one of the most creative players on the side who can unlock defences with his vision and passing.

Central Midfielder: Moises Caicedo

Moises Caicedo had a strong finish to the season last campaign after initially failing to adjust to his new surroundings. He is probably one of the best defensive midfielders in the world who is excellent in shielding the back four and doesn’t shy away from throwing in tackles and interceptions. With Maresca playing a high line and on the front foot this season, he will be vital in helping the team defensively.

Chelsea predicted lineup for Premier League 2024-25 season

Right-Wing: Cole Palmer

Arguably the best signing Chelsea have made in recent years. Cole Palmer had a fantastic season last term. He finished the season with a staggering 25 goals and 15 assists in all competitions. He also deservedly won the Premier League Young Player of the Season for his overall contribution to this side. However, the real test awaits for him to prove this season he is not a one-season wonder.

Central Attacking Midfielder: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

One of Enzo Maresca’s trusted players in this Chelsea side with the pair making their move from Leicester City this summer. Dewsbury-Hall had a fantastic last season with the Foxes having helped them win the league and secure promotion back to the Premier League. Last season, he made 49 appearances for the team scoring 12 goals and assisting another 15. Hopefully, he can enjoy a similar campaign with his new employers.

Left-Wing: Pedro Neto

Chelsea have pulled a masterstroke by signing Pedro Neto this summer as he can prove to be a shrewd addition to the team. He was one of the best performers for Wolves last season after delivering three goals and 10 assists from 24 matches. Neto was ranked second in the league for providing the most assists last term. This should be excellent news for the Blues who have been lacking inspiration in the wide areas.

Striker: Christopher Nkunku

Christopher Nkunku had a good pre-season run under Enzo Maresca who seems to rate him highly for the versatility he brings into the side. After making the move on the back of a successful season at RB Leipzig, Nkunku failed to replicate the same form at Chelsea with injuries partly to blame for his demise. He appeared 14 times for the club last season, scoring three goals. Hopefully, this season, he can kickstart his Chelsea career on a high note.
