The Blues will look to win their second Club World Cup on Sunday.

The redesigned FIFA Club World Cup is almost over, but there is still one intriguing encounter left.

The month-long, 32-team competition will conclude on Sunday with a showcase match between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, who are both teetering on the verge of winning an additional big financial boost and becoming world champions.

Although there seems to be a clear favourite for the title, the matchup between the European powerhouses will be closely contested and may end up being a war of narrow margins.

Chelsea benefited from a good draw and adopted a more measured approach. João Pedro’s brace helped the Blues defeat Fluminense 2-0 in the semi-finals. Earlier, they defeated SL Benfica and Palmeiras in their journey.

Chelsea’s offence has shown potential with 13 goals, but their defence will have their most difficult test to date when they take on UEFA Champions League winners PSG.

The club, which won the Club World Cup in 2021, want to become the first English team to win for the second time under Enzo Maresca. Their run to the final, however, eluded European powerhouses like Manchester City and Inter Milan, casting doubt on their ability to handle PSG’s intensity.

Maresca must make important choices regarding his pick in the starting lineup. The squad is strengthened by the return of Liam Delap and Levi Colwill from suspension, while Joao Pedro may get another start over Nicolas Jackson as a result of his heroics in the semi-final.

A midfield change could be necessary due to Moises Caicedo’s ankle injury, which he suffered against Fluminense. West Londoners’ creative spark, Cole Palmer, will be essential, perhaps helped by Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo in the backline.

The Blues may be able to control possession using a 4-1-2-3 formation, which is an essential tactic to slow down PSG’s pace.
