James set to captain the Blues in the final.

Chelsea FC’s young team has grown over the years. They will now play in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final. Tonight, the Blues will take on the formidable Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium in New York, New Jersey.

The 25-year-old captain’s comfort level ahead of the game seems to be backed by the youthful Blues team.

Reece James spoke before the game with the assurance of what one would expect from someone wearing the armband. He spoke from the deepest faith and confidence in his West Londoners’ teammates.

James’ nearly belligerent remarks suggest that they are not scared to play against PSG, who thrashed Real Madrid C.F. 4-0 in the semi-finals.

James ultimately stopped being tactful about Chelsea’s chances after being questioned a third time about the difficult task against the UEFA Champions League winners.

Reece James is confident that the Blues will win FIFA Club World Cup 2025

“This game is a super high-level game,” James said. “They are one of the hottest teams in the world at the moment, but this is a final. This is a one-off game. Everyone has them down as strong favourites, but I’ve been in many finals before where we’ve been favourites and we [didn’t] come out on top. So this doesn’t mean too much to me. And I don’t really care to be honest.

“Everyone is [talking about] our opposition, but we’ll prepare for them right and we’re going to win.”

Meanwhile, opposition coach Luis Enrique added, “Chelsea is a team similar to us.” The coach still seems wary of the Premier League squad’s physical prowess. The game against a very physically fit team will be close.

After winning the UEFA Conference League, Chelsea hope to cap off the 2024–25 season with a second trophy in their trophy cabinet when they play PSG in the 2025 Club World Cup final on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
