Chido Obi-Martin part of Man United's first team plans for 2024-25 season

The teenager decided to sign for the Red Devils despite a new offer from Arsenal.
After concluding the signing of Chido Obi-Martin, a gifted academy product of Arsenal, Manchester United have pulled off a huge coup. The 16-year-old was the most promising youth prospect for the Gunners. However, he declined the Gunners’ offer of a new contract.
Meanwhile, United provided the youngster with a new project where he will be seen as the third-choice striker behind Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. The plan is to train Obi-Martin with the academy as well as the first team when needed.
Arsenal provided the teenager with the chance to train with the U18 squad, play up for the U21s, and even practice with the senior team. But the forward wanted to directly play with the U21 team.
He is one of their best teenage goalscorers currently in England. The forward produced 29 goals in just 17 league matches for Arsenal’s U18s. In February, he was in the spotlight for netting ten goals for the U16 side against Liverpool.
He has also scored four goals each against Crystal Palace and Fulham, five against West Ham and seven in a single game against Norwich, demonstrating that his goal-scoring ability wasn’t a one-time occurrence.
Obi-Martin joined Arsenal in 2022 after completing his move from Danish club KB. He has also represented Denmark in Euro 2024 U17 qualification, where he netted three goals.
United have landed one of the gems of the Arsenal academy. They can nurture him into one of the best strikers in Europe. He is just 16 and will need to be groomed into an experienced player.
Chido Obi-Martin chose to join Manchester United because their project convinced him. The credit should go to the club board, who have made massive changes at the club.
He is certainly one of the players to look out for in future when he breaks into the first-team. Currently, it will be too soon to play for the senior team. But he has all the talent to become a first-team starter by the age of 18.
