The England international earlier donned 20 on his back for the north London club.
The Blues have revealed that Cole Palmer will wear a new shirt number for Chelsea during the 2025–2026 season and at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
Palmer is getting ready to wear the No. 10 shirt moving forward. His outstanding performance in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League final victory in May will be remembered as the last time he wore the number 20 for the team.
Chelsea defeated Real Betis 4-1 in Wroclaw, where Palmer, 23, contributed two assists to the team’s victory.
After winning the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup with Manchester City, Palmer finally lifted his first-ever trophy with the Blues.
Enzo Maresca’s team will play Los Angeles FC on June 16 to start their Club World Cup campaign in the United States. Palmer will don No. 10 for the first time in that match, assuming he plays.
Mykhailo Mudryk, who has been suspended since December after failing a drug test, will lose his shirt number as the England international will be the new owner of the No.10.
Liam Delap, meanwhile, will don Chelsea’s No. 9 shirt. On Wednesday, June 4, the 22-year-old striker moved from Ipswich Town to the Blues.
A statement on Thursday (5 June) read:
“Chelsea can confirm Cole Palmer will move to the No 10 shirt ahead of our 2025/26 campaign, starting from the Fifa Club World Cup.”
“Palmer, who has worn the No 20 shirt since signing from Manchester City in September 2023, will make the switch ahead of our participation in the US-based tournament and could wear 10 for the first time when the Blues face Los Angeles FC in Atlanta on June 16.”
”Supporters are reminded that the full list of squad numbers for the 2025/26 season will be finalised once the summer transfer window has shut. They remain subject to change until that point.”
