The host nation USA bowed out of the tournament after a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay.

The Copa America 2024 is getting closer to its knockout round, which means every match matters a lot to the players.

Half of the initial field will be returning home early from the United States, as there are only eight spots in the quarterfinals. The struggle is on to stay away from joining the returning lot.

After losing their second match of the championship, this time to Ecuador 3-1, Jamaica were the first team to know their destiny.

Copa America’s first round-robin stage consists of four separate groups with teams of four thanks to the 16-team configuration. The teams that place third and fourth in each group go home, while the highest two in every group immediately advance to the quarterfinals.

After that, each game that is tied at full-time will go to a straight knockout competition with 30 minutes of additional time and a shootout on penalties if needed.
