Ronaldo led Al-Nassr to a 2-0 win over Al Ahli.

Al Nassr beat Al Ahli 2-0 in the Saudi Pro League yesterday, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s 970th goal of his career.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the score in the 76th minute after the game was still goalless at halftime. In the 90th minute, Kingsley Coman doubled his side’s lead. Ronaldo’s effort earned him the title of Player of the Match.

With this victory, Al Nassr maintain their top spot in the Saudi Pro League with 26 wins, 1 draw, and 3 defeats, totalling 79 points. Al Hilal, their nearest rivals, have 71 points after 21 victories and eight draws.

Al Ahli players have been accusing the league of favouring Al Nassr since last month and it was once again the hot topic after this match. Cristiano Ronaldo responded to criticism after the match as Al Nassr defeated Al Ahli 2-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t happy with the “false allegations” and condemned the comments following a major win as they look to win the title this season.

“I think it’s not good for the league. Everyone complains, everyone makes more of it than they should. It’s football, it’s not a war,” said Ronaldo.

“We know we have to fight; everyone wants to win, but not everything is permissible. I’ll take the time to talk about it at the end of the season because I see a lot of negative things.

“There are a lot of players complaining, posting on social media about the referee, the league, the project… I think that’s not good, that’s not the objective of this championship.

“We should set an example, not only here, but also for Europe. We want to compete to be one of the best leagues in the world. We should analyse this and stop it, talk to the SPL (the league) because for me this isn’t football.”

Al Nassr lead the SPL table with four games remaining, eight points ahead of Al Hilal. Al-Nassr are now need two more wins to clinch the title for the first time since 2019, which will also be Ronaldo’s first league title with the club.

Where do Al-Nassr stand in the SPL table?

They are first in the table.

How many league games do they have left to play?
