Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to UD Almería after promotion boost

Cristiano Ronaldo recently purchased a stake in UD Almeria.
After defeating Cultural Leonesa 3-0, UD Almeria breached the automatic promotion spots in Spain’s Segunda Division. After Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement—he recently purchased a 25% share in the Andalusian club—this outcome has garnered a lot of interest. The Al-Nassr skipper was keen to express his support for the position from a distance as the fight for promotion heats up.
The Rojiblancos have now won five of their previous six league games, continuing their scorching run of success. As a result, the team is now in second place in the standings, something it hasn’t done since November. The club’s fortunes have drastically shifted following a period of transition following its relegation from the top division in April 2024.
They now have more momentum in their attempt to return to the top level of Spanish football. This is all thanks to a recent investment from a Saudi consortium in May 2025 and Ronaldo’s high-profile entrance into the board earlier this month.
Ronaldo congratulates Almeria as they chase automatic promotion

Cristiano Ronaldo kept a close eye on the team’s development even though he was in Madrid recuperating from a hamstring injury. The 41-year-old superstar expressed his happiness to his millions of followers on Instagram soon after the final whistle against Cultural Leonesa, writing:
“Great win today. We continue.”
For a team that is currently juggling the burden of great expectations with the technical needs of a demanding promotion bid, his public support is a huge psychological lift.
Which division will Almeria be promoted to if they finish in automatic qualification spots?
Spanish first division, LaLiga.
Which division are they in currently?
Second Division.
